NELLY GUAMBE
Nelli Guambe (born 1987 in Inhambane, Mozambique) is a self taught Artist . Began painting in 2011 when she joined the Mozambican Artist Association, Nucleo de Arte,.

Guambe completed a BA in International Relations and Diplomacy, and in 2017 co-founded the Deal Creative Space in Maputo, promoting Design, Entertainment, Arts and Literature.

She is the winner of the inaugural Emerging Painting Invitational prize, Harare, and the Mozal prize, Mozambique, in the Category ‘Artes Plasticas’ (both 2019).

Her work explores aspects of being. She paints human figures in dramatic poses and strong expressions in a mixture of realism and abstract. She uses vibrant colours and constrast to create a visual impact in her works.

She participated in Solo and Group shows in Mozambique and abroad including in Stevenson’s About Face exhibition in 2018 and In 2019 solo exhibition “CARAS” (‘Faces’ in Portuguese) at Stevenson Johannesburg. The selection of works in display are in her Maputo Home Gallery .
